Lunch & Learn
May is Historical Preservation Month, and what better example of preservation in the Panhandle than the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum?! Enjoy a delicious lunch provided by Joe's Catering, and take a behind-the-scenes look at the history of PPHM, current happenings and ways for you to get involved in keeping the preservation and history alive! We'll start with lunch and a program in the Hazelwood Lecture Hall, then move about the museum for a walking tour. Tickets are $30/person (limited availability). Click here to register online or call Canyon Main Street at 656-6833.
May 30th, June 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th
June Jams + bonus (almost) June Jam!
For the fifth year in a row, June Jams will take place on the Canyon Square/Neblett Park every Thursday evening in June (and a bonus concert in May!). As the event has become more and more popular each year, we are able to continue to book some very talented musicians from the area! We had several requests last year to have more concerts, so we are adding a bonus concert in May this year! This is a free concert series for all ages.
Movie Night on the Square
Children and adults of all ages enjoy watching a free movie under the stars on our giant inflatable screen. The movie screen is set up on the courthouse lawn, and viewers bring blankets and lawn chairs for seating. Free popcorn and water will be provided. This movie will be an animated family movie for everyone to enjoy.
Tex Randall’s 60th Birthday Party
Our favorite cowboy is turning 60 this year, which calls for celebration! Dates and details are still in the works, but an open-to-the public birthday party that will also serve as a fundraiser for the Tex Randall Project will take place in the summer.
NEW event for 2019! We are taking one of the movie nights to a different location this year...the Canyon Aqua Park! Viewers will get to float in the pool or lounge around the pool while watching a water/summer themed movie (TBD).
Throwback Thursday Movie Night
NEW event for 2019! We have had many requests for a throwback, non-animated movie night. So here it is! This one will take place on the square, where we will show a 80s/90s classic (TBD).
Autumn Street Fest
2019 will be the third year for Autumn Street Fest. Canyon Farmers Market vendors, along with participating stores and restaurants around the square, will provide vast opportunities for shopping and dining. There will also be live music, pumpkin painting, and a pet parade.
Halloween Spooktacular on the Square
For the second year in a row, Halloween Spooktacular on the Square will take place the Friday before Halloween. The evening will start off with a Trunk-or-Treat around the Square, and end with a family-friendly Halloween movie on the courthouse lawn. In its inaugural year, this event drew over 4,000 people and 44 different businesses and organizations participated in the Trunk-or-Treat! We expect to see this event grow in 2019!
Christmas in Canyon – Visits with Santa
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…and the best place to be, Canyon! Events throughout the day include an open house at the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, a Pancake Dinner hosted by the Canyon Lions Club, a Christmas Parade of Lights in Downtown Canyon, and a Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Canyon Square, featuring Canyon ISD Choirs, and Visits with Santa hosted by Canyon Main Street! Help us kick off the holiday season and bring the community together for a fun Christmas celebration.
